Ayrshire Largs

Largs is a town on the Firth of Clyde in North Ayrshire, Scotland, about 33 miles SW from Glasgow. The original name means "the slopes" in Scottish Gaelic. A popular seaside resort with a pier, the town markets itself on its historic links with the Vikings and an annual festival is held each year in early September.

The Isle of Arran

The Isle of Arran or simply Arran is an island off the west coast of Scotland. It is the largest island in the Firth of Clyde and the seventh largest Scottish island. Arran is a small island, 20 miles long and 56 miles round, located off the south-west coast of Scotland. Palm trees grow here in the mild climate thanks to the Gulf Stream and it has many picturesque villages. The island is cut in half by the Highland Boundary Fault, a geological division which makes the north rugged and hilly, whereas the south is more gentle and lower lying. In fact it is often called 'Scotland in miniature' for its range and wealth of scenery.

Glasgow Scotland

Ayrshire Ailsa Craig

Ailsa Craig (Scottish Gaelic: Creag Ealasaid) is an island in the Firth of Clyde off the coast of Ayrshire in Scotland. It is colloquially known as "Paddy's Milestone" as it is roughly marks the halfway point of the sea journey from Belfast to Glasgow. Ailsa Craig is a spectacular & iconic landmark, rising steeply out of the sea up to 1,110 ft (340 m) at its peak. It can be seen from all along the Ayrshire coast, as well as Kintyre and from Northern Ireland, although it is only 3/4 of a mile long by 1/2 a mile wide.

Alloway in the county of Ayrshire is the birthplace of Scotlands most famous poet Robert Burns, the cottage where he was born & raised, the famous Auld Kirk, the inspiration for his classic poem " The Tale of Tam O' Shanter " The nearby Brig O Doon where the main character of his poem escaped over the River Doon from the witches chasing him. Near by set in beautiful gardens is the Burns Monument
