The Iberian Peninsula in general, and Spain in particular in southern Europe, is known for its breathtaking scenery, ranging from snow-capped mountains to sun-drenched beaches and rugged deserts. The Spanish landscape is characterized by contrasts and diversity that make it a unique destination. The Balearic Islands are a group of islands in the Mediterranean Sea that belong to Spain. They consist of the four main islands Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera and numerous smaller islands. The landscape of the Balearic Islands is characterized by turquoise waters, beautiful beaches, steep cliffs and rolling hills. This is proven not least by the millions of tourists arriving every year to spend their vacations on the archipelago. They arrive by ferry, cruise ship or plane. Mallorca is the largest island of the Balearic Islands and a very popular tourist destination. The landscape of the island is varied and offers both mountains and sea. The Serra de Tramuntana is a mountain range in the northwest of the island and offers spectacular views of the sea and the surrounding countryside. The flat landscape in the south of the island with famous beaches such as Es Trenc is also a highlight.
