Don Nieman
I was born in Buffalo New York, grew up in West Falls, NY a rural community about 25 miles south of Buffalo. There I attended the Springville Griffith Institute Central School system and was graduated in 1966 when I left Buffalo for Wheaton College about 25 miles west of Chicago, IL where I studied, played football and hockey. After two years I transferred to Wayne State University in Detroit where I worked, partied and kissed girls and in 1970 was graduated with a BA in Psychology (that and $0.50, at the time, would get you a cup of coffee). I was married in college and after graduation immediately my new bride and I left for US Naval Aviation Training in Pensacola, FL where I received my wings as a Marine Corp pilot. After my tour in the Marine Corps I moved, with my then wife and beautiful little girl, Erin, back to Buffalo (actually East Aurora, NY) were I went to graduate school at Canisius College receiving an MBA in Finance and Accounting. Then in 1980 Benjamin was born and I was Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis for Carborundum Co (a Div of British Petroleum). My life changed in 1983 when my wife and I were separated and I left Buffalo for Alaska where I lived in Barrow and Kotzebue for 5 years flying airplanes and helicopters in arctic Alaska. Moving closer to Erin and Ben (even though they had extended visits) became a priority and moved back to the lower 48, first to Lafayette, Louisiana where I flew helicopters out to the oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico for Petroleum Helicopters. Then, finally, in fall of 1988, I moved back to Buffalo. Although being back with Erin and Ben was wonderful, I had no idea what I was going to do and finally got involved in a small software company where I progressed through roles as an accountant, a salesman and sales manager. Then in 1993 I married Elaine and acquired two more daughters, another Erin and Callie. I also at that time started my own tiny software company and for eight years worked at that before getting involved in a Tim Hortons franchise (coffee and donuts). Tim Hortons was the second worst failure in my life. Elaine and I could not work together that intensely, we nearly broke up but sold the franchise, moved from East Aurora to Buffalo and I got a job working for Citigroup (Citibank) in Financial Reconcilement and Controls. I have two wonderful grandkids now, Charlie and Justine. Erin with Charlie, Justine lives in Portland OR where my son in law, Chris, practices medicine. The other Erin teaches 3rd grade and is married to a great guy named Andy who is a purchasing agent. Callie is a dentist and Benjamin is a design engineer for the aircraft division of Moog.

Living in the city has been a big change for me, but it has been fun. I m looking forward to becoming more involved in photography and growing in that hobby.

Is that what you meant for a biography?
